If you want to spend some quiet time on a pond surrounded by green trees, head to Missouri right to the quiet and picturesque Mudwater River, which is spread between fields and plains in the west of the state. You will be able to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of summer, its end, when the fields and meadows still delight the eye with their divided foliage, but the sun is no longer so hot, it is pleasant to be near the water.
The river is famous not only for its excellent kayaking opportunities, but also for its excellent fishing, despite its relatively small depth and width. Along the banks there are many difficult places for casting due to the large number of plants and snags, roots of dry flooded trees, but it is there that predatory fish live, namely bass and pike. For those who like to catch small fish, it is worth trying to cast a float for sunfish.
Locations:
- Last Songs of Summer. A great place on the bank, from which a picturesque view of the trees on the opposite side opens up, where spreading willows dip their long branches in the river water and create a pleasant shade on hot summer days. The best place for casting, nothing interferes with the pull, so fans of spinning fishing often come here;
- Pike Challenge. If you go a little further along the western shore, you can find a great spot on the gently sloping shore and cast a float. When a narrow sandy strip opens up behind the tall bushes, it’s time to get out your spinning rods and try your luck at hunting larger predatory fish;
- Catfish Heaven. The Mudwater River is considered one of the best places to catch catfish. Flooded areas, muddy water, many snags and holes under the bank hide real monsters in their depths, which will not be so easy to pull out.
