Many may think that both games are completely identical, but this is only at first glance. The Fisherman became an alternative development branch and acquisition of another partner company, which planned to take up the game and develop it in a separate direction. Today, the simulator is at the stage of freezing, however, in the gaming community today there are many fans who continue to prefer the paid version with a small set of features.

- Fishing Planet beats its competitor in the number of fish species. Today, there are more than 200 of them, and this number is regularly replenished with the release of new reservoirs. The Fisherman has stopped at 143 for now;
- “Fisherman” is a copy of the original project, in the state it was in at the end of 2019-beginning of 2020. Further development has stopped today, and for now the developers’ plans for the future of the simulator remain unknown;
- On the Fisherman map you can find a unique reservoir, which has become an exclusive development of this fishing simulator. This is the Creuse River in France, a beautiful and atmospheric place with a fairly large length, pleasant views and the advantage of using trolling as one of the fishing techniques;
- The main advantage of the game is the gold farming directly in the game and buying DLC for it. This feature is unique to this simulator, in Fishing Planet baitcoins are bought for real money or earned on fish during participation in the St. Patrick’s Day event, they can also be obtained as a reward for tournaments, competitions and based on the results of club league competitions. It is much more difficult to earn baitcoins here than in the second simulator, where you can get gold for catching unique specimens. “Fisherman” offers players to purchase 3 packs with “goodies” only for real money, some of those available in Fishing Planet can be purchased using baitcoins;
- As for updates, the simulator, which became a separate project from Fishing Planet, stopped developing in 2020. New locations and functionality are not available for players;
- Today the maximum level for “Phishing Planet” is 90, while “Fisherman” is still “stuck” at 50m;
- Fishing Planet is constantly developing a system of social interactions. A recent discovery was the system of clubs and club leagues. Now you can not only get more experience when fishing in the same room with other members of your club, but also collectively fight for the clan to take a leading position in the rating. At the end of the competition period, you can get interesting and useful goodies (equipment, baits with improved characteristics and much more). Unfortunately, there is no such thing in The Fisherman;
- Players who join the Fishing Planet will be able to access the Sea of Japan location, sail a yacht alone or with invited friends, try to catch sea giants and enjoy stunning landscapes. This can be done by leveling up to the maximum level or by purchasing DLC with access to the reservoir for real money;
- As for online, FP has bypassed FM many times over. Players are attracted by the opportunity to swim with friends, participate in updated tournaments and competitions, where there are only more opponents each time, enjoy exploring new bodies of water and much more. “Fisherman” cannot boast of anything like that, but users who have long dreamed of breaking into the leaders of the tournament grid will be able to do this much easier and simpler, because the competition is extremely small;
- The original project, Fishing Planet, is available to anyone without any prepayments, but access to Fisherman requires payment.
Of course, everyone decides for themselves what to choose, but if you look at the situation objectively, it becomes obvious that only the original has a future, which is constantly being improved and supplemented, and the developers take into account the wishes and opinions of players from all over the world.
